Following In His Father’s Footsteps

Mike’s father, Dr. John Eisenberg, was a leader in patient safety as the director of the Agency for Healthcare Research & Quality (AHRQ) until his passing in 2002. His legacy and passion is evident in the dozens of awards and honors in his name at healthcare organizations all over the United States.

After studying his father’s work by interviewing dozens of his former colleagues, Mike has gained a unique understanding of the national efforts to improve patient safety that Dr. Eisenberg championed in the late 1990s. By taking his father’s positive (and sometimes humorous) approach to improving quality in healthcare, Mike has found new ways to promote a culture of safety at healthcare organizations that invite him to speak.
